The American Sign Museum opened in June of 2012 in 19,000 square foot former parachute factory. As a national museum dedicated to the rich and colorful history of signage, the Sign Museum offers a rare chance to experience than history of roadside culture.

This small cabin was designed to fit within a forest setting and requires little maintenance. It received  an Honorable Mention Award from AIA Cincinnati CRAN.

The Gary Media Center was designed as the centerpiece of a major revitalization effort being carried out by the City of Gary, Indiana. The mix-use project was planed to  build on the city’s forth-coming fiber optic network to expanding its economic base beyond its historic industrial uses. The mixed-use facility was to be located in the heart of downtown and will contain a new home for the Gary’s Public Television station, a multiplex cinema, shops, restaurants, and the Community Media Technology Center (CMTC).

Muller Architects collaborated with Venturi, Scott Brown and Associates to develop the design as well as preliminary economic modeling and implementation planning.

Proposal for a hotel and residential project on Third Street in downtown Cincinnati.  Parking garage formed a base for this project overlooking Cincinnati's  the central riverfront.

Creating the Congregation’s first permanent home presented the danger of narrowing its identity in ways that could damage its rich and still fluid character.

Symbolism has been employed by religious architecture throughout the ages. In the context of Congregation Beth Adam care had to be taken to find the broadest level upon which to base architectural meaning. It was essential that the building seem Jewish without the overuse of explicit symbols, that it connect to the long and rich traditions of Temples without appearing falsely historical or picturesque, and that the importance of learning and knowledge could be expressed by the prominence of the library.

The spaces strike a balance between their symbolic roles and straightforward functional uses. They are intended to gently support social interaction.

An adjustment to the design allowed construction of a lower level without an increase in the budget. The space was planned to be unfinished but due to skillful management of the project cost savings in other areas allowed much of the finish work to be included.

An abandoned neighborhood movie theater was slated for conversion to a fast food restaurant. Local community members sought to enforce a zoning overlay which limited the percentage of take out food service. A ruling by the Ohio Supreme Court supported the local zoning overlay and greatly strengthened the ability of historic districts to control business types. A non-profit corporation was created and successfully redeveloped the building into a three screen art movie house and later designed an addition containing three more movie theatres, doubling the seating capacity.

he adaptive re-use of the historic McAlpins Department Store in downtown Cincinnati involves sensitive rehabilitation of the historic facade, as well as effective interior improvements to lay the groundwork for 73 new condominiums, as well as ground-floor retail,ground floor and basement parking, and an exterior roof deck. Atria were designed to bring light into the core of the space.

Muller Architects, the Osgood Public Library Board, and the Reynolds Foundation developed plans to renovate and expand the town's historic library. The Osgood Public Library, one of the few gothic revival Carnegie Libraries in the country, was designed by Cincinnati architect Gustave Drach in 1912 and built with a $9000 grant from the Carnegie library program. The study proposed restoring the existing building with the reconstruction of the original castellated parapet, and terne coated steel roof. In addition to programming, research, and architectural design work, Muller Architecs developed a project website to manage communication between various team members as well as to distribute material to the public.

The Growing Room is a 4000 S.F. addition to an historic mansion, which houses a unique and highly respected Montessori School. The school places a strong emphasis on community, and thus desired that the process of creating the addition engage the school’s community of students, teachers and parents, but also the larger community of the surrounding neighborhood. The addition was designed to respect the scale and character of the surrounding residential area.

The entire New School community participated in the planning, funding, and even in the construction of many aspects of the project. In the Montessori “hands-on” tradition, a cut and fold model of the addition was distributed to the entire school, complete with an original cartoon by a parent cartoonist. The design evolved into a tree house like setting in which surroundings formed the exterior spatial enclosure. The large space has allowed the school to have performances, gatherings, lessons, and lunches.

Located on a 20 acre site outside Oxford, Ohio, this Arts & Crafts inspired residence was designed to take advantage of both the woodland and the sistant rolling hills to the southwest.

The Peace Museum is perhaps the only museum in the world dedicated to the expression of non-violence through art. With education, exhibitions, and community involvement, the museum presents work that seeks local, notional, and international solutions through non-violence.

The project began with a 10,000 square foot conversion of an industrial space into a multi-media exhibition space. On display are musical memorabilia from folk, pop, and rock music, along with work by Kathy Kalowitz, photos by Sydney Harris, prints by Chicago artist Carlos Cortez, and drawings from survivors of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
